To ease fevers, mix the galangal powers in spring water or juice and drink.
To ease rheumatism in the back or side, boil galangal in wine and drink it frequently while warm.
To ease occasional aching in the heart, eat plenty of galangal. You can add it as a spice in your cooking, or prepare heart pills as follows:
Take galangal and pellitory (Anacyclus pyrethrum) in equal parts, add 1/4 the amount of white pepper, and mix with beanmeal (fava bean). Add juice from fenugreek without any other liquid. Form small pills, dry them in the sunshine, and take these pills three times daily for three weeks.
For good breath, take galangal and fennel in equal weights and add twice the amount of nutmeg and feverfew. Pulverize the mixture into a powder and eat two pennyweights of this powder with a small mouthful of bread every day on an empty stomach.
