Chamomile: "German chamomile is hot, has a pleasant juice, and is like a gentle ointment..." (Hildegard von Bingen, Physica) Conrad of Megenberg (14th century German Catholic scholar) further notes that chamomile's warmth corresponds almost exactly to that of the human body.
